Environmental Considerations of Funerals

There are number of environmental issues to be considered when planning a funeral. Each cremation use about 160kg of carbon dioxide while traditional burials also produce greenhouse gasses to maintain lawns and build headstones. Features of OnEarth Funeral Caskets

• Caskets adhere to the occupational health and safety requirements for use of cardboard coffins developed by the Australian funeral industry. Click here for more information on how our caskets meet the Funeral Industry OH&S Standards.

• An environmentally friendly product which does not use toxic based inks, photographic materials and glues to create imitation cardboard coffins.

• Caskets have been tested by Internationally recognised testing authority - TestSafe Australia. OnEarth caskets will NOT distort or collapse when subjected to the kind of handling required by the funeral industry (including handling when damp and being stored in cold-room conditions). 

• All our caskets are built using biodegradable cardboard and non-toxic paints. Thus, making them suitable for burials and cremations.

• Caskets can be supplied with a white painted finish or a traditional wood-grain finish. The white painted finish allows family and friends to decorate or write messages on the casket as part of their farewell celebrations.
